BETTY L. ZENT, 84, passed away Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, in Fort Wayne. Born Dec. 4, 1929, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late Simon Marion and Della Ulrey. She was baptized and grew up in the Lutheran Church. She married Eldon Zent and together they had nine children. Her family, especially her boys, kept her on her toes constantly. Anyone who knew Betty, knew her as either by mom or grandma because that is what everyone called her. Her passion was racing, especially NASCAR, and baking. She loved watching her son race and going to the tracks, but she will be best remembered for her baking. "She made everything from scratch and everyone in the neighborhood wanted a taste. Instead of getting birthday cake we got home made cinnamon rolls or pecan rolls. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her." She is survived by her children, Larry (Teresa) Zent, Dale Zent, Allen Zent, Chris Zent, Althea (Park) Hedges and Robbin (Herold) Tonak all of Fort Wayne, Beverly (Lonnie) Lawson of Wooster, Ohio and Sandy (Jesse) Salazer of Plymouth, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by her husband; and daughter, Sally Stuff. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013 at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave. with Pastor Jackson officiating. Calling from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.
