DR. KENNETH L. KELLER, 85, passed away on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at Parkview Hospital from kidney failure. Born Feb. 4, 1928, in Crawfords ville, Ind., he was a son of Raymond L. and Eula C. Keller. Ken graduated from Purdue University in 1950 with a B.S. in physical education and math, and married his wife of 63 years, Marian Robison Keller. After teaching in Bluffton, he served in the Air Force for six years, where he completed a B.S. in meteorology at Penn State. Ken spent four years as a weatherman with a culminating assignment in Fairbanks, Alaska. After the military, he had various teaching, coaching, and administrative jobs across Indiana in Greenfield, Raub, and Greencastle. After completing his Ph.D. in education administration from Purdue, Ken moved to Fort Wayne as an Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean for Administration at the then newly established IPFW. Eventually, he joined the Department of Education at IPFW and worked in various roles including teacher certification, department chairman, and teaching. In 1993, after 27 years, he retired from IPFW. Ken was an active member and lay leader of Forest Park U.M.C. Also, Ken worked in various roles with the United Methodist North Indiana Conference. One of his proudest moments was planning and providing the steeple for his church. Further, Ken served as a board member for The American Red Cross and chairman of the Allen-Wells Chapter. Ken followed all sports; especially Purdue and IU. He is survived by his wife, Marian I. Keller; two daughters, Krystal (Thomas) Irven of Houston, Texas and Kimberly (Thomas) McMurray of Fort Wayne; and two grandchildren, Ross Keller McMurray and Lydia Keller McMurray. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at Forest Park United Methodist Church, 2100 Kentucky Ave., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. The Rev Brenda Ginder officiating. Calling also from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Chapel, 1320 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne. Committal service and Military Honors are 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery, Waynetown, Ind. Memorials to Forest Park United Methodist Church or the American Red Cross.
