. We will also accept typed submissions by mail or fax; handwritten obituaries will not be accepted, nor will we take dictation by phone.
All obituaries must be prepaid by credit card or check before we can publish. We accept credit cards by phone at 603-516-2984.
Obituaries not submitted by either a funeral home, cremation service or other official entity must be submitted by the executor of the deceased’s estate, or someone specifically designated by the executor to conduct this task. We must be provided with the executor’s billing information and contact information for approval of the obituary submission, and either the contact information for an official entity with which we may make a confirmation of death, or a certified copy of a death certificate. This information must all be confirmed prior to publication of the obituary.
The obituary deadline is 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. for the next day's publication. Everything, including payment, must be received by deadline for the next day's publication.

Foster’s Daily Democrat will provide all families with a 125-word obituary, edited to our standards, FREE OF CHARGE. All text in excess of 125 words will be charged at a rate of $1.50 per word.
This standard obituary should include the name of deceased, along with age, address, date of death and birth, and names of immediate family members, whether they survive or are deceased, as well as biographical information such as schools attended, jobs held, organization memberships and any special honors or awards received.
A standard obituary DOES NOT include details about funeral arrangements, services or memorials.
The cost of listing services in the Foster’s is $75 for up to 100 words. A premium services announcement is available at a rate of $1.50 per word beyond the 100-word limit. The services announcement will include only details about calling hours, funeral and/or memorial services, interment, suggestions for memorial donations and the funeral home’s name, address and Web site.
Photos will be charged at a rate of $45 for a small thumbnail photo, or $75 for a 1-column premium photo. Photos can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org as a .jpeg attachment with obituary submission.
Photographs must be clear and large, showing only the head and shoulders of the deceased, in JPG format at 200 DPI, at a maximum size of 1M. You may also stop by our office and drop off a photograph at 150 Venture Drive, Dover, N.H. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you would like your photograph returned.
Families may also submit their own obituary to run as presented (with only very minor proofing for punctuation, spelling and grammatical errors) at a cost of $1.50 per word. This type of obituary will be distinguished by a border and a “Family Notice” notation.
Second-Day Obituary Notice
Families wishing to run an obituary a second time may submit a second-day obituary notice at a cost of $1.50 per word.
