Althea B. (Bradbury) Eaton
SOUTH BERWICK, Maine - Althea B. (Bradbury) Eaton, 92, of South Berwick, Maine, died suddenly on Monday, December 31, 2012, after a long battle with Alzheimer's, at York Hospital, surrounded by her daughters.
She was born in Dayton, Maine on September 14, 1920, the daughter of Brice A. and Mary Hannah (Littlefield) Bradbury and attended school in Hollis, Maine. She loved knitting, crocheting, gardening, bingo and especially taking care of children.
Althea was a homemaker and volunteered her services at the First Parish Federated Church Thrift Shop, laced moccasins and washed laundry for The Homestead.
She shared just under 71 years of marriage with her husband, Karl Allen Eaton, originally from West Buxton, Maine. They were married in Hollis, Maine on June 11, 1938. They resided in South Berwick, Maine for their entire lives together.
Althea was a longtime member of the Federated Church of South Berwick and a past member of the church's guild. She was also a member of the Olive Rebecca Lodge #21, Sebago #7 LAPM, Hollis Grange P of H 132 for over 50 years and South Berwick Firemen's Auxiliary.
She is survived by her three daughters, Karleen M. (Eaton) Rawski, Karyl A. (Eaton) Maine and husband Marshall, all of South Berwick, Maine and Brenda L. (Eaton) Gingras and her husband Herb of Dover; a son, Clifford A. Eaton and wife Norma of Gales Ferry, Conn.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Cynthia St. Amand of Hollis, Maine; brothers, Brice Bradbury, Jr. of E. Hartford, Conn. and Clifton Bradbury of Ga. and Maine; as well as many nieces, nephews, a brother-in-law Clifford Murray Eaton of W. Buxton, Maine and many close family friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Karl; her parents, Brice and Mary; son, Jeffrey; daughter, Cynthia; son in-law Michael Rawski; grandson, Kevin Currier; sisters, Lila Gannet, Eva Woodard, Brenda Bradeen, Carolyn Bradbury; and brother Harry Bradbury.
Visiting hours will be held at The First Parish Federated Church on Academy Street on Friday, January 4, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Funeral services will immediately follow from noon to 1 p.m.
