LAFLIN, Penn. - Audrey Phalen Cameron, 86, of Laflin, and formerly of Newmarket, N.H., and Pinehurst, N.C., passed away October 25, 2012, at Hospice Community Care, Geisinger South, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Northwood, N.H., she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Park) Phalen.
Audrey was a graduate of Newmarket High School, Class of 1943, and was employed as Program Director of Harness Horseracing at Pocono Downs, Plains, Twp., for 20 years, retiring in 2000. Audrey was a lover of horses and enjoyed training them. She was also very proud of and enjoyed tending to her garden, cooking, knitting, sewing, and playing cards with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dana Cameron in 1961, sisters Leona Batchelder, Beatrice Walker, and Irene Grochmal, and brothers, George and Rodney Phalen.
Surviving are her daughter, Judy Cameron, of Laflin, Penn.; sister, Janet Doherty and her husband, Frank, of Ararat, N.C.; dear nephew, James Phalen, of Brentwood, N.Y.; dear friends, Terri Phalen, and Angie Spernoga; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 1 at 10 a.m. at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter Street, Newmarket. Burial will follow in Lee Hill Cemetery, Lee.
