Carl E. Porter
FARMINGTON - Carl E. Porter, age 80, of Central Street in Farmington, died January 10, 2013, at the Rochester Manor.
Born January 10, 1933, in Temple, Maine, the son of Earsel E. and Rachel O. (Staples) Porter who passed away in 1936. He was raised in Chesterville, Maine, by his father and adoptive mother Marion (Turner) Porter. He was a graduate of Berwick High School, a graduate of Eastern Nazarene College, and also attended UNH.
He resided in Farmington for five years, having come from Berwick, Maine, where he resided for over 45 years.
Carl was a United States Navy
Veteran of the Korean War
Prior to retirement, he was employed with the Oyster River School System for many years and also had worked in Custodial Maintenance at the University of New Hampshire for over 25 years.
He was a member of Grace Community Church in Farmington. He was a former Cub Scout Leader, a former member and deacon at Church of the Nazarene and also a former deacon and member at the Assembly of God in Berwick.
Carl enjoyed fishing, camping, bicycle riding and had wintered in Florida for many years.
Survived by his wife of 56 years Beverly (Kinney) Porter, 2 sons: Stephen C. and wife Polly Porter of Milton, James E. Porter of Farmington, 2 daughters: Deborah E. and husband David Thorp of Rochester, Rebekah M. Needham of Berwick, Maine, grandchildren: Nathan, Heidi, Jordan and his wife Audrey, Scott, Stephanie and Ayden and Erin, 1 great grandchild: Gabriel, a brother Lloyd E. and wife Sandra Porter of Pittsfield, Maine, also several cousins, nieces and nephews, including a special niece Dorian Jones and nephew Randall Porter.
The family extends a special thank you to all the staff at Rochester Manor for the compassionate and loving care Carl received there.
Calling hours are Monday evening January 14, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington, N.H. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery.
