CONCORD — Danielle M. "Danni" Ayer, 21, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at her home surrounded by her family after a lifelong battle with Rett Syndrome.
She was born in Concord, daughter of Christopher and Ellen (Gifford) Ayer. Danni was a graduate of Concord High School Class of 2007.
She was an avid NASCAR fan, and once had the opportunity to meet Dale Earnhardt Sr. She loved flowers and the feel of rain on her face.
In addition to her parents she is survived by uncles and aunts Robert and Wanda Ayer, Kevin and Kathy Ayer, Brian Ayer, Scott and Christine Hurd, Ryan Hurd, William and Patricia Gifford, Edmund and Peggy Gifford, Ronald and Laurie Gifford, Erin Maloney, Megan and Gary Shaffer, Karen Stillman; her grandparents, Neil and Beverly Hurd of Bow; many cousins; and longtime caregivers and special friends, Carolyn Towsley and Lisa Avery.
She was predeceased by her grandparents, William and Arline Gifford; grandfather, George "Rusty" Ayer Jr.; and one cousin, Jimmy Stillman.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 25, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main St., Concord.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 72 South Main St., Concord.
Burial will follow in the Blossom Hill Cemetery, Concord.
