David L. Eaton

MADBURY - David L. Eaton, Ret. Chief Master Sergeant NHANG, 63, of Nute Road, died October 5, 2012.

Born June 29, 1949 in Concord, N.H. he was the son of the late Leslie and Dorothy (Barry) Eaton. Raised in Hopkinton, he graduated from Hopkinton High School in 1967, and the Franklin Institute of Boston in 1968. He had lived in Madbury for 25 years.

Upon high school graduation he joined the N.H. Air National Guard and began his military career. He graduated from several NCO Academy programs and in 1997 received his Associate Degree in Aircraft Maintenance Technology, CCAF. His assignments included, Aircraft Mechanic, Specialist, and Technician, Jet Engine Technician, Maintenance Superintendent, and Aerospace Maintenance Manager. He received several awards and decorations, including the Greg M. Wilson Outstanding Maintenance Person of the Year in 1990, Meritorious Service Medals, and Armed Forces Service and Reserve Medals. He retired from the Guard on June 7, 2009.

He was a docent at the N.H. Air Museum in Manchester, was active with the Employer Support Guard Reserve, and participated in the New England Honor Flight program.

David was a member of the Odd Fellows in Contoocook, the York, Maine. VFW, and was a former deacon at the Madbury Congregational Church.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nancy (Gielar) Eaton; a daughter Brittany of Madbury, and a son, Nathaniel of Madbury; three siblings, Cynthia Bartecchi of Kingston, N.H., Steven B. Eaton of New Ipswich, N.H., and Joan L. Gullison of West Warwick, R.I.; one niece and four nephews.

A Memorial Visitation will be held at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter Street, Newmarket, on Thursday, Oct. 11 from noon to 2 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. Memorial Service at the Funeral Home, and then a graveside service in Calvary Cemetery, Newmarket.

Another graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, Oct. 12 at noon at the N.H. State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.

Rather than flowers memorials may be made to N.H. State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway Rte. 3, Boscawen, N.H. 03303.
