MILTON - David Mattair, 83 of West Street in Uxbridge, Mass., and Milton died Saturday, March 16, after an illness.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Roberta A. (Gibbs) Mattair; a son Dana D. and his wife Dawn Mattair of Northbridge; a daughter Lynne R. and her husband Richard Martel of Uxbridge; four grandchildren Leah Martel, Samantha Mattair, Brian Martel and Ethan Mattair; a sister, Grace M. Wathen of Carrabelle, Fla.; and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother Dr. Robert B. Mattair in 1992. Born in Boston on Dec. 30, 1929 he was the son of Robert B. and Grace F. (Laverty) Mattair and lived in Uxbridge 11 years, previously living in Milton.
Mr. Mattair graduated with a BS in General Psychology from Tufts College in 1952, married Roberta A. Gibbs of Farmington, in that year in the Church of the Redeemer in Rochester, and went on to receive a master's in Industrial Psychology at Purdue University
. After an additional year toward a doctorate in the same field at Purdue, he joined the Raytheon Company in Personnel Management and stayed with them for 19 years, prior to working as a consultant on his own. His latter and final years of employment were in Saudi Arabia establishing Personnel Departments for two Saudi Arabian firms. He retired in 1987.
David enjoyed woodworking, crossword puzzles and amateur cooking.
Following cremation a burial service will be planned for a future date at Pinegrove cemetery in Farmington, N.H.
