Normand W. Dodier

ROCHESTER - Normand W. Dodier, 70, died suddenly at his home on Wednesday, November 21, 2012.

Normand was born in Martinville, Quebec, Canada on May 24, 1942, the son of Antonio and Florine (Dumont) Dodier and had been living in Rochester for most of his life, moving from Canada. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and before his retirement he served as a Senior Master Sargent with N.H. Air National Guard. He was a member and past-commander and adjutant of the American Legion, Post 7, a member of the Elk's Lodge #1393, a member of the Rochester Veterans Council, aide du camp, a charter member and former adjutant of the AMVETS, Post 0001, a member of the Pease Greeters, a member of the retired Air Force Association, a member of the Club Victoire, a member of the National Guard Enlisted Association. He was also involved working the Bingo at the American Legion and was involved with wreaths Across America. Normand enjoyed bowling, darts, horseshoes and softball, enjoyed his mornings with the Dunkin-Donut crew, but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving members of the family include two daughters, Tamara Vachon of Farmington, N.H., and Diana Roulston of Hampton, N.H.; seven grandchildren; one brother, Donald Dodier of Rochester; three sisters, Hughette Rainaud, Jeannine Garland and Christine Gentry all of Rochester, N.H.; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be at the H. J. Grondin& Son Funeral Home, 177 North Main Street, Rochester, NH on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Mary's Church, 71 Lowell Street, Rochester, N.H., followed by burial, with full military honors, in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
