Ralph N. Young, Sr.
STRAFFORD - Ralph N. Young, Sr., age 75, of Strafford, New Hampshire, passed away suddenly August 24, 2013. Ralph was born August 16, 1938 in Barrington, New Hampshire. He was the son of Ivory and Ellen (Tuttle) Young.
Ralph was a graduate of Spaulding High School, Class of 1957. It was there that he joined the Army
Reserve. Following high school, he took his basic training and followed an 8-year program in the reserves. Ralph went on to a career in the driving industry. He became a Teamster, driving for Wonder Bread Hostess Cake Company for 30 years. During some of those years, he played in a local softball league (20 years) and in a bowling league (18 years). Ralph loved the outdoors and he loved to hunt. He also enjoyed cutting and chopping his own wood for the ol' wood stove. He was also active in his church, the Third Baptist Church of Strafford.
Following retirement, Ralph became interested in antique cars. He even built a large garage to accommodate his vehicles. He was a member of the Old Time Cruisin Auto Club.
Ralph is survived by: his wife, Bonita S. (McDonald) Young; and sons, Ralph N. Young, Jr., and Brian Young; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are: three step-children; five step-grandchildren; and three great-step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Warren C. Young, Fred A. Young, and Clarence Young, and step-brothers Ivory H. Young and George E. Young, and a step-sister Florence (Young) Smith.
There are no calling hours.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be given to the Third Baptist of Strafford in my memory to be used in the building program or maintenance of the church buildings
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Caverly Cemetery in Strafford, New Hampshire at 10:00 am Wednesday, August 28, 2013.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Third Baptist Church of Strafford located at the junctions of Routes 202A and 126 in Center Strafford. Following the service, all are invited to the reception to be held at the Christian Center behind the church.
