WAKEFIELD - Rodney Morse (Rod, José) passed away Friday, January 24. Many family members were at his bedside.

Rodney, the son of the late Paul Morse of Nashua, and Macy (Elkins) Morse of Hudson (formerly of Portsmouth), is survived by his daughter, Julia Morse and granddaughter, Rozelynd Lachance of Wakefield. Maria Barreiro of Lebanon was the former wife and good friend of the deceased. He is also survived by two sisters, Suzanne Hodge of Hudson, and Nina Morse of Nashua, and ten brothers, Michael of Nashua, Paul Pat of Barrington, Gregory of Mount Vernon, Loren of Portland, Ore., William of Woodland Hills, Calif., John of Gresham, Ore., Bobby, of Santa Monica, Calif., Peter of Portsmouth, James of Hudson, and Matthew of Nashua. Many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews also survive Rodney.

Rodney graduated from Nashua High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served with distinction during the Vietnam War Era. He attended Clackamas College in Oregon City, Ore. He was an avid mountain and rock climber and taught many young people the techniques of climbing and outdoor survival. He was a fine craftsman and worked on restoring and refinishing antiques with a specialty in antique trunks.

He spoke fluent Spanish and journeyed to South and Central America and Mexico where he made a number of lifelong friends. Many an afternoon and evening was spent in lively discussion in Spanish and English about religion, politics, philosophy, and just about any subject imaginable with his N.H. compadres. Whether alone or in the company of others, Rodney would often pick up his guitar and play a few tunes. He loved photography and took thousands of incredible pictures during his travels.

For a number of years Rodney served as a house parent for the mentally disabled as well as a house parent for troubled youth. He spent a number of years on the road as a long haul trucker. Rodney was an expert welder and in his last years worked as an independent sales contractor and troubleshooter for Pro-Cut USA, an automotive related firm.

Rodney, who had a great sense of humor, also had an easygoing way about him and was highly regarded and loved by his many friends and family members.

A non-denominational service is planned for Saturday, February 8th at 11 a.m. at the Mont Vernon Congregational Church in Mount Vernon, N.H. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to KIVA.org (Central America), a micro lender.
