Ronald Seaver

BARRINGTON - Ronald Paul Seaver, age 78, of Barrington, died suddenly at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital on Jan. 1, 2013.
Ron was born on Oct. 19, 1934, in Dover to Donald and Annette (Vachon) Seaver. He began working at the age of 14 at 1st National Grocery Store in Dover and worked his way up to assistant manager at the Rochester location. He graduated from Dover High School in 1952.
He married his high school sweetheart, Betty Witham, and they moved to Barrington in 1960. They would have been married for 59 years on May 29, 2013.
Ron was a Star Route mail contractor for 31 years, and delivered mail in Barrington, Strafford, and Center Strafford. He was president of the Northeast region of the National Star Route Mail Contractors Association, and served on the national board of directors. He was known as a dedicated, loyal and outstanding "mailman."
After retiring from the postal service, he and Betty were caretakers of the DeRochemont Estate in Newington, for 13 years. While there, he discovered his talent for stained glass art and created many beautiful pieces. Ron was known for his green thumb - he had vast vegetable and flower gardens in Barrington, and maintained beautiful gardens at the DeRochemont Estate.
Ron was very active in his town, serving as selectman from 1975-78; chairman of the Planning Board from 1978-80; cemetery commissioner from 2005-12; and town treasurer from 1981-2000.
Ron is survived by his children Dawn Seaver of Barrington, David Seaver and wife Nicky Simic of Strafford, and Jennifer Morton and husband Aaron of Alton; his grandchildren Colby and Shaun McFall, Samuel Bergeron, and Lydia, Emelie and Madison Morton; brother Robert Seaver and sisters Edna Hamel, Janet Quisombing and husband Victor, Jeanne Therrien and husband Robert, and Dorothy Buell all of Dover, N.H.; his sister Elaine Burns of St. Mary's, Ga..; sister-in-law Patricia Seaver of Barrington as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Seaver; his parents; brother George Seaver, and daughter Tracy Jean Berry.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. at the Governor's Inn at 78 Wakefield St., Rochester, N.H. with a Celebration of Life for Ron and Betty to follow.
