PORTSMOUTH - Arthur V. Tallman, 64, a long time area resident, died Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at his home.
Mr. Tallman was born in Manchester, November 25, 1948 the son of the late Charles V. and Louise (Heermance) Tallman. He was a 1967 graduate of Portsmouth High School and received a bachelor's degree in marine biology from UNH.
He enjoyed both Nordic and downhill skiing and had been a member of the UNH ski team. Arthur could be seen over the years riding his motorcycle with one of his beloved dogs, Prince or Snoop Dog riding in the sidecar. He was a regular at the Blessing of the Bikes in Colebrook and at Motorcycle Week. He had also owned several boats over the years.
He worked many years in the home heating business as a self-employed oil burner technician. He was always there for others ready to lend a hand to help.
Family members include two brothers, Stephen Tallman of Stratham and Peter Tallman of Longmont, Colorado; two sisters Judith Tallman of south Hampton and Elizabeth Tallman of Greenland. He also leaves his former wife and friend, Marie Tallman of Somersworth, several nieces and nephews and many close friends.
Services will be held at the Rye Congregational Church on September 26 at 10 a.m., all are welcome to attend. After the service the family and friends are invited down stairs of the church for a social.
