DOVER— Austin R. Boyington, 87, passed away Friday September 7, 2012 at Langdon Place in Dover.

Austin was born on September 12, 1924 in Revere, Mass. and was the son of the late Ernest P. Boyington and Jennie Gillis.

Austin served our country in the U.S. Navy in World War II, was a member of the VFW Post in Beachmont, Mass. and the DAV. He was also a member of the Revere Policemen's Association and was employed as an officer with the Revere Police Department for 30 years.

Austin loved to spend time with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, landscaping, singing and poetry. Austin will be remembered for his caring personality, laughter and his kind and generous ways.

Survivors include one son, Russell Boyington and his wife Kathy of Revere, Mass.; one daughter, Susan Janetos and her husband Jahn of Dover; one sister, Ruth Greenlaw of Bow Lake, N.H.; two sisters-in-law, Doris Boyington of Moultonboro, N.H. and Mary Locke of Conway, N.H. Austin also is survived by five grandchildren, Scott and Chad Vincent, Heather Kent, Kerri Rutstein, and Desiree Ginepra; six great grandchildren, Brooke and Blake Vincent, Sadie and Drew Kent, Ryan and Michael Rutstein.

Austin was predeceased by his wife Patricia TowleBoyington and his son Thomas Boyington.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday September 11, 2012 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave, Dover, N.H. with a funeral service to follow at 3 p.m.
