Carl F. Widen

LEE - Carl F. Widen, 86, of Lee, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital in Portsmouth.

Born in Portsmouth, on January 14, 1927, he was the son of the late Oscar and Ella W. (Richards) Widen.

Carl served in the United States Army during World War II.

Prior to his retirement he was employed as a Firefighter for the City of Portsmouth. He was also a lobster fisherman out of Rye Harbor for over 50 years.

Carl was a member of Frank E. Booma Post #6, American Legion and had a great love for restoring antique tractors.

Besides his wife of twenty-two years, Carol A. (Daggett) Widen survivors include his three daughters, Carla J. Mueller of Wells, Maine, Carolyn J. Widen and Gary Pennell of East Waterboro, Maine, and Wendy W. Blood and her husband, Theodore of Portsmouth; three stepdaughters, Wanda L. Walker and her husband, Richard of Barrington, Lorene Glidden and fiance, Steven Young of Rochester, and Raelene Witham of Rochester; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and his beloved pets, Addie and Stewie.

Carl was predeceased by his brother John Widen, and sister, Elsie Henson.

Services: Memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2013 at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad Street, Portsmouth. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Harmony Grove Cemetery, South Street, Portsmouth. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cocheco Valley Humane Society, 262 County Farm Road, Dover, N.H. 03820.
