PICKENS, S.C.—Clifton E. Fitch of Pickens, SC, formerly of Madbury, NH, died September 14, 2011.

Known to family and business associates as Clif, he owned and operated C. E. Fitch Corporation, a construction business, for many years before retiring to South Carolina. He was an active member of LICA (Land Improvement Contractors of America) and was instrumental in establishing the New England Chapter in 1971.

He loved the game of golf and was a member of the Nippo Lake Golf Club for many years.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Johanne; sons, William (Michelle) Fitch of Stoneham, ME; Steven "Jim" Fitch of Pickens, SC; and Clinton (Tracey) Fitch of Gonic, NH; daughters, Beth (Karl) Deissler of Sumner, WA; Laurie (Scot) Armstrong of Merrimack, NJ; and Gayle (Douglas) Ross of Somersworth, NH; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
