ACTON - Donald J. Paquin, 74, of Acton, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at the St. Andre Health Care Facility in Biddeford.

He was born in Springvale on March 21, 1938, a son of the late Ludger and Aurore (Fortier) Paquin.

He attended local schools and enlisted in the Air Force served until his discharge in 1959.

On Oct. 15, 1960, he married Lorraine Miclette, and together they raised seven children.

For many years, Donald worked as a commercial vehicle operator for several different companies.

He enjoyed playing games and cards with his grandchildren. He loved fishing.

A devout Catholic, prayer life was important to him. He was communicant of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland and a local member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was a simple, quiet man who enjoyed spending time at home with his family.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be dearly missed by his wife of 52 years, Lorraine Paquin, of Acton; children, Diane Paquin, of Saco, Michelle O'Connor and her husband, Peter, of Portsmouth, R.I., Karen Matoin and her husband, Tony, of Springvale, David Paquin and his wife, Sheila, of Grafton, Mass., Patty Muchemore and her husband, Eric, of Wells, Christina Rock and her husband, Patrick, of Elkton, Md., and Angela Meyer and her husband, Peter, of Cochranville, Pa.; 21 grandchildren; one brother, Laurent Paquin, of Sanford; sister-in-law, Lucille Paquin; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Sol Amor Hospice staff and, in a special way, the staff at St. Andre's for the care given to Donald during this time.

Visiting hours for Donald will be on Friday, Nov. 9, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Carll - Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at the Notre Dame Cemetery in Springvale.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to make donations in Donald's name to Sol Amor Hospice, 23 Spring Street, Suite C, Scarborough, Maine 04074.
