Dorothy Freydberg

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Dorothy Jean Freydberg (Clark), 91, passed away Feb 15, 2013, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, N.C. Daughter Toni and granddaughter Christina were at her side. She was born May 4, 1921, in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. to Robert Beecher Clark and Ada Belle Harris. She is predeceased by siblings Earl, Edgar, Jerry, Ralph and Joan; daughter Sarah (Fiorini) DeGazio; daughter-in-law Linda Fiorini, and husbands Russ Fiorini and Leo Freydberg.

Dorothy and Russ were married 33 years and most of that time lived in Amsterdam, N.Y., where they raised Robert, Toni and Sally (Sarah) Fiorini. Dorothy worked for Greenspan's Children Clothing Store for many years and Russ was a professional musician.

In 1985 Dorothy married Dr Leo Freydberg of Hollywood, Florida, and lived there until Leo's death in 1987. Thereafter she moved to Barrington where she shared the home of her dearest friend Virginia Turner. They and their friends met each Tuesday for breakfast at Good & Plenty and shared many wonderful times together. Dorothy and Virginia were members of the Barrington Historical Society and attended the BeFree Community Church. When Virginia passed, Dorothy moved to Cocheco Park Apartments in Dover to be close to daughter Sarah and husband Jim DeGazio and granddaughters Amanda and Ashley.

She is survived by son Robert and wife Donna Fiorini of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; grandson BJ and wife Kate Fiorini of Scotia, N.Y. and great grandchildren Miles, Levi and Isaac; granddaughter Christina Fiorini of Wilmington, N.C.; daughter Toni and husband Jim Howell of Wilmington, N.C.; grandsons Curtis Fenimore of Manchester and Adam Fenimore of Newark Del.; and beloved son-in-law Jim DeGazio and granddaughters Amanda DeGazio and Ashley DeGazio (Dover NH).

"Aunt Dot" also leaves behind Nancy, Kimberly and Kevin (Jerry); Marjory, Roberta, Earl Jr and Gail (Earl); Jack, Phyllis, Diane, Randy and Francine (Ralph); and Dennis and Len (Edgar).

Lastly Dorothy leaves her precious border collie Shep behind. He was her constant companion the last ten years and brought her great joy and comfort.

A Memorial Service will be held at Saratoga Abundant Life Church, Saratoga Springs, N.Y. on May 4, 2013 to commemorate Dorothy's birthday and celebrate her life.
