PORTSMOUTH - Dorothy Maskwa, 97, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the Mark H. Wentworth Home.
Born in Lynn, Mass. on July 22, 1916 she was the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Burns) Grace.
Dorothy was a graduate of Keene Normal School, now Keene State College, and was a teacher for many years in Portsmouth at the Lafayette School, Sherburne School, Pease Primary School, and New Franklin School.
Dot was an active member of Saint James Parish and the Association of Portsmouth Teachers.
The widow of Arthur 'Pardy' Maskwa, survivors include her children Paul Maskwa and wife Paula of Somersworth, Beverly Miyares and husband Ray of Belmont, MA; Michael Maskwa and wife Donna of Dover, Susan Fort and husband Bill of Stratham, grandchildren James, Katherine, Sarah, and Rebecca Maskwa, Emily Miyares Overend, Christopher, Eric, and Dan Maskwa, Amanda, Alison, and Michael Fort, great grandchildren Thomas, Lillian, and Grace Maskwa, a sister Carol Turci and husband George of Brentwood, and many nieces and nephews.
Services: Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 15, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State Street, Portsmouth, N.H. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Saint James Church, 2075 Lafayette Road, Portsmouth, N.H. on Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Portsmouth Public Library 175 Parrott Avenue, Portsmouth, N.H., 03801.
