Edward Ouimette Obituary

SOMERSWORTH — Edward R Ouimette Sr., 87, of Somersworth, died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011.

Edward was born in Danvers, Mass., to Henry and Elizabeth Ouimette. He had eight brothers and one sister. He was married for 62 years, to Marie Helena Dumas and they have one son and four daughters.

He was educated at the St. Martin's School, Somersworth High and Bentley College. He owned his own business for over 50 years. During semi-retirement he drove a school bus to many sports events. During his life time he was a member of many organizations, including the Rotary, Moose, Elks, Knights of Columbus, Rochester Runners and the Great Bay Masters Swimmers. He was the founder of NH Camping Chapter 9. Ed enjoyed family life, biking, skiing, swimming, running, walking, gardening and camping.

Surviving family members include his wife, Marie; his son, Edward Jr.; daughters, Sharon Croft, Ann Wieder, Shirley Guilmette, Patricia Marino and their families. He also leaves behind a daughter, Louise Dobson; a son, Fred Ouimette and their families. He had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, at St. Martin Church with burial to follow. Friends are invited to call from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday at the Roberge Funeral Home in Somersworth.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital & Health Foundation, Wentworth Homecare & Hospice or charity of your choice.
