BERWICK, Maine - Edwin Delano LeClair, 73, of Berwick, passed peacefully at his home , surrounded by his loved ones, on Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, following his courageous fight with cancer. He was born in Exeter, N.H. on March 19, 1945, a son of the late Wilfread Sr. and Florence (Bailey) LeClair.

He joined the Army in 1962. He served overseas for 18 months of his three-year term as a combat engineer. He was known as the "local barber" which followed him throughout his many careers.

Known as Eddie WOW, he worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a welder for 23 years until his retirement in 2011.

Eddie loved his family and friends. His heart was huge and open to everyone. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Eddie used his wide range of talents and skills to help many. He was always working on projects, from woodworking, painting, to fishing and hunting for relaxation. He enjoyed going to camp in Hiram and to his piece of heaven in Jonesport.

His genuine, glowing personality, along with his beautiful smile will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife Nancy; sons, John and Sandy LeClair of Raleigh, N.C., Dave LeClair of Loveland, Colo., Larry and Katelyn Dennis of Eliot, Maine, Travis and Suzie Dennis of Berwick, Maine; daughters Leah and Shane Szilagyi of Andover, N.H., Lynn LeClair and Heath Edwards of Unity, N.H., and many loving grandchildren; sisters, Charlotte Croteau of Raymond, N.H., Shirley LeClair of Clermont, Fla., Julie Wyman of Florida, Sandy Kelleher of Massachusetts and Rose Croteau of Exeter, N.H. and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by nine of his siblings.

SERVICES: At Eddie's request, a celebration of life will take place at his home serving his favorite foods starting at 4 p.m., Sept. 7, 2018.

Eddie always helped people in need by opening his home, giving that ride to the grocery store to somebody walking, removing heavy snow from one's driveway to lending that helping hand.
