SOMERSWORTH - Elizabeth E. Simonds, 81, died April 12, 2013, at the Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, following a period of failing health.
She was born in Contoocook, N.H. August 2, 1931, the daughter of John and Ruby (Lynch) Smith.
A former Kittery, Maine, resident, Elizabeth was a member, former Vice president and treasurer of Parents without Partners.
Betty enjoyed semi-retirement in St. Petersburg, Florida.
She retired from Catholic Medical Center in Manchester where she had been a nurse for many years.
Elizabeth had also been employed at Kittery Convalescent Home.
She was the widow of Henry Simonds.
Members of her family include her sons, Richard Butterfield of Gonic (owner, Prince's Garage) and David Butterfield of Dover, 4 grandchildren, Carmen Richard Butterfield of Kittery, Maine, Walter Alex Watts of Brook, Maine, Veronica Ann Leblanc of Livermoore Falls, Maine, and Jessica Frances Malloy of Manchester, N.H. and 3 great grandchildren. Xander and Sara Leblanc and Toby Herbert Malloy.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Lucille Leo.
There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday, April 18th at 10:30 a.m. in St. Leo Church, Gonic with Rev. Paul Gousse, pastor, as celebrant.
