Fernand J. Gagnon

STRAFFORD - Fernand J. Gagnon, 84, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at the Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, surrounded by his family, after a brief illness.

Fernand was born on March 21, 1928, in VanBuren, Maine, the son of Wilbrod and Martha (Roy) Gagnon and lived many years in Rochester before recently moving to Strafford. Before his retirement he worked as a cement finisher/mason by trade. He built his house on Tebbets Road in Rochester and could fix anything. He enjoyed yard work, Foxwoods, family gatherings, watching his grandsons' football and baseball games and church suppers. Fern was a dedicated and devoted caretaker for five years to his beloved wife Annette (Binette) Gagnon, who passed away in 2011 after 61 years of marriage. He was a member of St. Leo's Parish in Gonic for many years and most recently a member of St. Mary's Parish in Rochester.

Surviving members of the family include: two sons, Michael Gagnon and his wife Melanie of Rochester, and Mark Gagnon and his wife Vickie of Strafford, four grandsons, Aaron Gagnon and his wife Kim of Forest Hills, Md., B.J. Gagnon and his wife Jessica of Rochester, Joshua Gagnon and his wife Connie of AlisoViego, Calif. and Brendon McGrath of Rochester, five great-grandchildren, Drew, Abbey, Emmy, Cobie and Damien. He was brother to 12 and is survived by the following, Antoinette LaBreck of Broadbrook, Conn., Irene Laurion of Rochester, Arthur Gagnon of Rochester, Carline Roberge of Rochester, and Ronald Gagnon of Rochester, and also leaves many nephews, nieces, cousins and sisters and brothers in-law.

Visitation will be held at the H. J. Grondin & Son Funeral Home, 177 North Main St., Rochester, N.H. on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at St. Mary's Church 71 Lowell Street, Rochester, N.H., with the Rev. FR. Daniel Sinibaldi officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Calvary Cemetery in Gonic. N.H.
