WELLS, MAINE - Gerald E. Allen, 89, of North Berwick Road, Wells, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Sunnybrook Village in Brunswick, just 10 days after the death of his loving wife, Viola.

He was born in South Berwick, Maine, on June 23, 1924, the son of Carl and Lizzie (Kimball) Allen.
He was a graduate of North Berwick High School before marrying the love of his life, Viola Rose Moulton, to whom he was married for 62 years.
Gerald owned and operated Allen's Used Cars in Wells for many years. More recently, he had enjoyed meeting people while collecting tolls at the Wells Beach parking lot. Gerald and Viola were fond of their morning breakfasts at the Café in North Berwick and their afternoon outings to McDonalds in Wells, where they are remembered for their playful banter and reminiscing of the past.
He was predeceased by his wife Viola Rose (Moulton) Allen on Dec. 24, 2012. He is survived by a son, Dana Allen and his wife Kelly of South Berwick, a daughter Diane Sonoski and her husband James of Brunswick; four grandchildren, Melissa Jones, Angela Verge, Chris Caswell and Andrea Boulanger as well as eight great-grandchildren.
An hour of visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 1 p.m. followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market St., North Berwick, ME. Spring interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends who wish may contribute to the
