ROCHESTER -- Gertrude L. Hebert, 74, died Friday, October 5, 2012 at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, after a long period of failing health.
Gertrude was born in Sanford, Maine on April 16, 1938, the daughter of Fidele and Jeanne (Mailhot) Payer and had been living in Rochester since 1956, moving from Sanford. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Rochester and loved sewing and gardening. She was predeceased by a son Marc T. Hebert who died in 2001.
Surviving members of the family include: her husband, George "Tom" Hebert of Rochester; three daughters, Anne Walter of New Durham, Fran Hebert of East Rochester, and Emily Schwartz of Strafford; one son, Normand "Bub" Hebert of Strafford. She also leaves one brother, Ronald Payer of Florida; three sisters, Theresa Chapais of Sanford, Maine, Lucille Thomson of Durham, and Doris Dubois, Torrington, CT; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren ;and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held at the H. J. Grondin & Son Funeral Home, 177 North Main Street, Rochester, NH on Monday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday at St. Mary's Church in Rochester, followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery in Gonic.
