SOUTH BERWICK< Maine - Jacqueline Heffren, 85, passed away on June 24,2013 at her home. She was born on July 1,1927 in Islesboro, Maine, the daughter of Adelma (Gilkey) and James Hatch. She graduated from Islesboro High School in 1944 and continued her education from Gorham State Teacher's College, graduating in 1947. Her many years of teaching included positions in Pittsfield, Maine and South Berwick, Maine. She retired her teaching career from Central School in South Berwick. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Maine Epsilon Chapter and the Maine Retired Educators. In 1953, with the arrival to South Berwick, she became a member of the First Parish Federated Church. Her many years of teaching brought her great joy. Her retirement was filled with much happiness, spending time enjoying her home, family and friends.

Jacqueline is survived by her two daughters Martha and Melissa, and her three grandchildren Katherine, Benjamin and Daniel. Surviving in addition to her daughters and grandchildren is her brother James Hatch of Bristol, Connecticut. Leah and George Newhouse of Pittsfield, Maine, Joan and Arlo Bradstreet of Unity, Maine and Marie Heffren are her surviving in-laws. Many nieces and nephews and their children complete her surviving family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Basil and her two sisters Miriam Pendleton and Barbara Rice.

A family celebration of her life will be held on Islesboro at a later date.

The family request that remembrances in Jackie's name be made to the Boardman Cottage, 131 Main Road, Islesboro, Maine.
