ROCHESTER - John (Jack) E. Hogan passed away on March 27, 2013 at St. Ann's Nursing Home in Dover.
Jack, the son of Alice and John Hogan, was born and raised in Amesbury, Mass., where he attended Amesbury High School. Following graduation, Jack enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Japan, Guam and the U.S. After an honorably discharged from his military service he attended Boston University graduating with a BA in Business Administration.
Jack's love of travel drew him to the airlines and he accepted a position with start-up Capitol Airlines based in Cleveland which shortly thereafter was acquired by United Airlines. He continued his passion for travel working until his retirement in the mid 80s for the American Automobile Association. As head of field operations for Europe, Jack traveled extensively throughout the European Continent. After Europe, he accepted a position which permitted him to reside in N.H. letting him pursue his two passions, skiing and sailing. He annually captained a bareboat charter where he and his friends sailed most of the islands in the Caribbean. He cherished most however, sailing his 19' skiff the "MarTinI" off the coast of Kittery Point. Jack's second love was skiing. The slopes of Attitash were home. He loved being part of a senior skiing group; the A.O.G.A.'s (Attitash Old Goats Assoc.)
He is survived by his sister, Cecelia H. Torr of Rochester, and nieces and nephews, including Kelley Torr of Dover, Robert Torr of Swarthmore Pa.; William Martin of Corona Del Mar Ca, John Martin of Boulder Creek, Calif., and Nancy Martin of Hawaii. Grand Nephews Allison and Taylor Martin of Corona Del Mar, Calif. and Katie and John (Jack) Torr of Swarthmore, Pa.
