RYE - Kenneth Hardman, 82, of Rye, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Clipper Harbor of Portsmouth.
Ken spent much of his time at The Works Health Club in Somersworth, where he enjoyed playing bridge with friends and playing racquetball. Ken occasionally played racquetball competitively and, in 2003, was ranked the number two player in the national racquetball standings for his age group.
Ken was a season-ticket holder at the Seacoast Repertory Theatre in Portsmouth, N.H. where he took great pleasure in attending theater performances with friends and family.
Ken is survived by his partner; Barbara Lemay, his brother; Ivie Stein, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Toledo, Ohio, two sons; Barrett and his wife Kathleen of Seymour, Conn., as well as Barrett's mother, Janet Cummings of Norwalk, Conn., and Alexander and his wife Jessica of Portsmouth, two daughters; Elisabeth Porter and her fiance R Scott Sherman of Stratham, Amanda Hardman of Portsmouth, their mother, Susan Duchesney of Portsmouth, He also leaves behind three grandchildren Tyler, Ian and Isabella.
A celebration of Ken's life will be held at Rye Congregational Church on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 2 p.m. followed immediately by a reception at 17 Mariette Dr., Portsmouth, N.H. All who knew Ken are welcome to join in the celebration. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Seacoast Repertory Theatre would be appreciated.
