Linda A. Preston

ROQUE BLUFFS, Maine - With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend, Linda A. (Constantine) (Dagenais) Preston, 66, of Roque Bluffs, Maine on March 11, 2013.

Linda was born on April 18, 1946, in Rochester, to John and Lillian Constantine. She grew up in Somersworth and attended Holy Trinity Grammar School and St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Dover, graduating in 1964. After receiving her degree from the University of New Hampshire, she began her teaching career as an elementary school teacher in Somersworth, where she taught for many years. During this time she continued her studies and received the Master's degree. Linda then taught gifted and talented students in Lebanon, Maine.

After residing in Barrington, Linda relocated to Roque Bluffs, Maine, where she met and married her beloved Tony Preston. Linda then continued teaching at the Rose M. Gaffney Elementary School in Machias, until she retired in 2008. In addition to her love for education, Linda cherished family and friends, reading, animals, the Boston Red Sox, challenging crossword puzzles, telling stories and meeting new people. Linda volunteered her time with Odyssey of the Mind, The Giving Tree in Roque Bluffs, The Roque Bluffs Singers, and was the secretary of the Sunrise Senior College at the University of Maine, Machias. She was an active member of the Roque Bluffs Community Chapel.

Linda was predeceased by her husband Tony, and her parents John and Lillian. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle St. Lawrence and husband Joe, granddaughters Erin and Shannon, siblings Robert Constantine, Katherine Wentworth and husband Richard, Kevin Constantine and wife Maryalice Fischer, Kimberley Cavanaugh and husband Mark, Anne Constantine, Tim Constantine, several nieces and nephews, her three stepchildren and her cats, Shadow and Mickey.

A celebration of Linda's life will be held at the Rose M. Gaffney Elementary School in Machias, Maine, on March 30, at 1 p.m. followed by a potluck reception. A celebration of life service will also be held Saturday, May 25, 2013 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Church Hall, 5 Hale St., Dover, N.H.
