SHAPLEIGH, Maine - Marion Bedell, 84, of Shapleigh Corner Road, died March 29, 2014 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Marion was born on September 3, 1929 in Portsmouth, the daughter of Ambrose and Marion (Cole) Penney.
Marion was a dedicated worker with Sprague Electric Company for over 30 years. But, her first love was being a mother and welcoming her grandchildren into the family! She would put their needs before her own and she enjoyed being active; whether it was routing for her grandkids at a ballgame or helping them make cookies or shopping for holiday gifts.
When she was younger, Marion baked and decorated cakes for people's weddings, birthdays and other occasions. She enjoyed traveling and just returned from a trip to Michigan. She was independent and made sure you felt welcomed when you came by for a visit. Her cat Hannah was her protector.
Marion possessed a very happy, upbeat personality. Being kind and compassionate was as natural to her as getting up each morning. She loved watching television with "Who wants to be a Millionaire" and "The Price is Right" being some of her favorites. Marion loved going to yard sales and found treasures in used clothing, books and other things.
Marion enjoyed life to the fullest and can now be reunited with her son, Dennis Bedell who died in 2005 and her daughter, Gail Chasse in 2012.
She is survived by her children, Richard Bedell, Jr., Deborah Gilbert, and Gary Bedell; one brother, Robert; three sisters, Marie, Margaret, and Patricia; many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Susan Bedell and JoAnne Bedell; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Virginia and Florence and by one brother, Joseph.
A Graveside Service will be held later this spring at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.
