CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Michael John Wersosky, 60, passed away on Oct. 2, 2013.
A native of Dover, N.H., Mike served his country honorably and faithfully for four decades. He retired as a colonel from the U.S. Army Reserve and served as a civil servant logistics manager with both the Army and the Navy. Mike was a member of the Church of St. Therese in Chesapeake and the Hampton Roads Radio Control Club.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Cynthia A. (Cole) Wersosky; a daughter, Christine E. Duncan of Portsmouth, Va.; a son, Michael J. Wersosky II and his wife Laura of Virginia Beach, Va.; and one grandchild, Kaydence Christine Wersosky. He is also survived by his parents, John and Helen Wersosky of Venice, Fla., formerly of Dover, N.H.; two sisters, Catherine Strever of Dahlonega, Ga. and Martha Haley of Dover, N.H.; and one brother, Joseph Wersosky of Mechanicsville, Pa..
A military funeral honors ceremony will take place on Monday, Oct. 7 at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the ALS Association, Walk to Defeat ALS, in the name of "Mike's Dream Team" at www.alsa.org.
