NEW YORK, N.Y. — Muriel Allinson, 94, of New York, passed away on Oct. 14, 2010, at her home.

She was born in New York, N.Y., on Sept. 13, 1916, to Orville J. and Hazel (Simmons) Allinson.
Muriel was a graduate of Portsmouth High School, Class of 1934 and Katharine Gibbs School of Business in 1936. Following graduation she moved to Manhattan, where she worked for Chase Manhattan Bank, retiring in 1978 after 42 years.
She had a passion for city life and was an avid reader.
Survivors include her brother, Richard Allinson of Portsmouth; three nephews, David Allinson and his wife, Stephanie, of Ellington, Conn., Richard Allinson and his wife, Barbara, of Berwick, Maine, and Mark Allinson and his wife, Patricia, of Portsmouth; her niece, Elizabeth Staulcup and her husband, Ken, of Portsmouth; and 12 grandnieces and grandnephews.
Muriel was predeceased her sister, Marian Colburn Allinson.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 101 Chapel St., in Portsmouth. Friends are invited. There will be no visiting hours. Family flowers only. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Altar Guild, 101 Chapel Street, Portsmouth, NH 03801.
