Patricia Solvignon-Slifer Obituary

LEE - Patricia Solvignon-Slifer, 41, of James Farm, passed late Friday, May 27, 2016. Born on August 17, 1974, in Riom, France, she was the daughter of Roger Joseph Marius Solvignon and Josiane Daulat.

Patricia was a Professor of Physics at UNH, and a staff scientist at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. She was recognized for excellence in nuclear physics with a Department of Energy Early Career Award, and a Jefferson Science Associates Research Prize.

Patricia proudest achievement was as loving mother to her two daughters. Her unflagging optimism brightened the lives of all who met her, and she taught us to appreciate life as it is.

Survivors include her husband Karl Slifer of Lee, their two daughters; Anna and Kasey Slifer, one brother; Denis Solvignon of France and her mother Josiane (Daulat) Solvignon.

Patricia and Karl have both been wonderful members of the UNH Physics Dept., and it is heart breaking to lose Patricia so young. She was a stellar scientist and colleague who continued to participate and contribute to the University even while dealing with her own health issues. We will remember her warmth and courage. Karl, please know that your physics family is here waiting to help. You are in our thoughts.

I am so very sorry to hear of this tragic loss. Patricia was such a warm, bright presence in the physics community -- smart, thoughtful, methodical, and always willing to guide her colleagues in calculations, analyses and career decisions. The world is a poorer place for her loss. My heartfelt sympathy and condolences to her family whom she loved so much. May Patricia rest in peace.

Heartfelt sympathy for the passing of our colleague, Professor Patricia Solvignon-Slifer. We feel privileged to have known her, even if it was for just a short time, and deeply appreciate her contributions to the field of nuclear physics while at UNH, and before that, at the Jefferson Lab in Virginia. Rest in peace, dear colleague.
