Robert E. Atkins Jr

WAKEFIELD - Robert E. Atkins Jr., 70, of Wakefield passed away after a brief illness on Monday, June 3, 2014 at the Frisbie Memorial Hospital.

Son of the late Robert Sr. and Doris Chapman, Robert was born on December 15, 1943.

Robert was a Vietnam era Army Veteran 1964-67, past Exalted Ruler of the Rochester Elks and a member of the Victorie Club in Rochester. He was an avid boater, carpenter and racing fan; spent his winters in Florida and summers in New Hampshire as well after he retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Ellen Atkins of Wakefield; his daughter Mary Atkins and her husband Richard of Wakefield; his brother Michael Atkins and his wife Maryanne of Minnesota; his sister Bette Edgar and her husband John of Portsmouth, NH; and his grandson; nieces and nephew.

A memorial service will be held at the Rochester Elk's Lodge at 12 p.m. on June 11, 2014.
