Roland O. Staples

FARMINGTON - Roland Staples, age 84 of Farmington, died April 26, 2014. Roland was born Dec. 16, 1929, in Tuftonboro, the son of Clarence V. Staples and Elsie A. (Roberge) Staples. During his lifetime he resided in Berwick, Maine, Dover, Rochester and Farmington.

Roland worked at Baxter Woolen Mill in Somersworth, and many years at Hussey Manufacturing in North Berwick, where he retired. He was a member of the Dover Moose Lodge.

Roland and Louise spent many happy Wednesday evenings at a little country church in Tuftonboro, listening to the country jamboree, which is also the church where they were married.

He also enjoyed playing cards and bingo. He especially loved being with family at holiday dinners and cookouts.

Roland is survived by his loving wife Louise who was by his side every day. He also leaves his daughter, Kathy Cox and husband Darnell of South Berwick, Maine, his son, Roland Staples Jr. and companion Sarah of Strafford, N.H., his son, Lewis Staples of Florida, his son, Wayne Staples and wife Jackie of Milton, N.H., and his daughter, Theresa Corliss of Sanford, Maine.

He also leaves behind, five grandchildren, Michael, Florence, Douglas, Ashley and Carolyn and five great-grandchildren, Jessica, Samantha, Victoria, Amber and MJ, two stepdaughters, Susan and Theresa, and his twin brother Howard Staples and wife Marilyn of Rochester, also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Clarence Staples and a great grandson Daniel Cox.

The family would like to thank Riverside Rest Home (Unit 3) and Dover Rehab for the wonderful care they gave Roland during his stay there. Your gentleness and kindness will always be remembered.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday May 20, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Riverside Rest Home.
