Ronald Devoid Obituary

SANFORD — Ronald E. Devoid, 69, of Sanford, died at Maine Medical Center in Portland on Monday, Jan. 30, 2012.

Ronald was born in Sanford on Jan. 6, 1943, to Arlene Devoid and attended local schools, graduating from St. Ignatius High School in 1961.

Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving four years. After completing his enlistment, he returned to Sanford and married Claire Bannister. They spent the next 46 years together and raised two sons.

He received his MBA from Nasson College in Springvale in 1988.

Ronald was employed for 18 years as an accountant at E.C. Ricker and Sons in Alfred. He went on to work at Methot Auto Dealership and Insurance Agency in Biddeford as the business manager. He was also employed as the Office Manager for R. Pepin and Sons in Sanford until his retirement in 2002.

Ronald enjoyed working around his farm and spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a kind and loving man who enjoyed his close personal friendships with his Christian brothers and sisters.

Surviving are his wife, Claire Devoid, of Sanford; two sons, John Devoid, of Sanford, and Scott Devoid and his wife, Angela, of North Berwick; two grandchildren, Aiden and Ella Devoid, of North Berwick; and two brothers, Roger Devoid and his wife, Ursula, of Sanford, and Paul Devoid and his wife, Ann, of Sanford.

A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2, at the Church of the Prince of Peace at 922 Main Street in Sanford in the Lower Mid-Town Mall.

Interment will be in the spring at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.

Arrangements are under the direction on Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home at 29 Winter Street in Sanford.
