SPRINGVALE - Ruth M. Hartley, 81, of Springvale, died on Nov. 5, 2012, at the Greenwood Center in Sanford after a period of declining health.

She was born in Sanford on Jan. 28, 1931, the daughter of Linwood A. and Argie (Lord) Moulton, Sr.

She attended Alfred and Sanford schools, was a 1949 graduate of Sanford High School and attended Nasson College.

Ruth loved horses. She raised many at her home and was a "Horse-Show Mom," assisting her daughter in various horse shows throughout the years.

She loved the outdoors and loved to spend time with her husband, Peanut, at their camp in Eustis, where they would go four-wheeleing and snowmobiling and enjoy the occasional cold beverage on the porch. An avid hunter, she was especially pleased to win the moose lottery in 2007; along with her team, she came home from Eustis with a 600-pound bull moose.

She was predeceased by a grandson, Jason Hartley Lincourt, and a brother, Linwood A. Moulton, Jr.
