STRAFFORD — Ruth Elizabeth Steeves, 91, of Bow Lake Estates, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2012, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Ruth was born on Feb. 11, 1921, in Providence, R.I.; the daughter of Waldo L. and Nina B. (MacDonald) Appleby. She was raised in Franklin, Mass. Ruth, at the age of 21, married David W Steeves on June 28, 1942; they resided in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada for 5 years and Wrentham, Mass. Later Ruth moved to Plainville, Mass. and Strafford, N.H. Ruth and David owned and operated Green Acres Turkey Farm in Wrentham, Mass. Ruth did volunteer work at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, Mass. and was a member of the Strafford Garden Club. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and gardening.
Ruth is survived by her children, Gail Roberts of Strafford, Kathy Steeves of Northwood and Lori Mousseau of Newton Corner, Mass.; her eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.
Besides her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, David W. Steeves in Oct., 1984; and her daughters, Dawn Palmucci and Beth Killian.

Friends and family may call from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thurs., May 31, 2012 at Purdy Memorial Chapel, 2 Concord Road, Rt. 4, Lee, N.H.; a funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. Rev. Ted White, of New Hope Church, officiating; with a reception to follow the services.
