Stanley J. SheldonBERWICK, Maine - Stanley J. Sheldon, 89, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at his home after a brief illness, with his family by his side.

Stanley was born in Mazeppa, Minn. on Oct. 19, 1923, the son of Karl and Lillian (Sheldon) Sheldon and lived most of his life in Berwick, Maine. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving for three years during World War II in New Caledonia. He was currently employed as a maintenance person for the Somersworth Housing Authority, loved to read and was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Stanley was predeceased by five brothers and three sisters.

Surviving members of the family include: his wife of 67 years, Madelene (Mac Donald) Sheldon of Berwick, Maine, one son, Stanley Sheldon, Jr., two daughters, Sandra Menter and Sheila Roberts, all of Berwick, Maine. He also leaves six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Berwick, Maine, in the spring. The arrangements are in the care of the H. J.
