Obituary Condolences

DOVER - Terry A. Eleftherion, 70, of Dover, died peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, April 10, 2017, at the Hyder Family Hospice House from complications of Alzheimer's disease.

He was born October 12, 1946, in Rochester, the son of Alexander and Thelma (Leslie) Eleftherion, graduated from Somersworth High School Class of 1964 and then served with the NH Army National Guard. He married his wife JoAnn in 1967 and they made their home in Dover.

Terry worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a Physical Science Technician until 1980. He then moved over to the IFPTE Local 4 Union office where he served as President from 1989 until his retirement in 2005. During his term as President, he was an integral part of keeping the shipyard from closure by working closely with several members of Congress. He and his wife were honored to attend one of the Inaugural Balls of President Bill Clinton in 1993.

He achieved a 3rd degree black belt in Kenshin Kan Karate, served as President of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Dover, enjoyed trips to Hawaii and Foxwoods with his wife, and loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, JoAnn (Lazarus) Eleftherion of Dover; three children, Shari Eleftherion of Salem, Massachusetts, Alec Eleftherion of Dover and Angela Eleftherion Harding and her husband Cory of Malden, Massachusetts; two grandchildren, Lulu and Slade Harding; one brother, Demo Eleftherion and his wife, Elaine of Virginia; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his loyal companion dog Skye.

In addition to his parents, his brother George Eleftherion predeceased him in 2000.

SERVICES: Relatives and friends are invited to call Monday, April 17, at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Avenue in Dover from 4-7 p.m. The Rev. Arthur Athans will perform the Trisagion Service at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 18, at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 93 Locust St., Dover at 11 a.m., with the burial to follow.
