Yvonne O'Brien

DOVER - Yvonne O'Brien, 98, of Locust St. passed away peacefully March 6, 2014 at Hyder Family Hospice House.

Born in Somersworth May 4, 1915 the daughter of Antonio and Obeline (Cote) Nadeau. She attended Somersworth Schools and Dover High School. While working at Montgomery Wards she met and married Edmund O'Brien in 1938 and they had six children.

She enjoyed music, reading, embroidering and especially walking. Up to and into her 80s she would walk two to three miles a day. She was known for knitting slippers for her children, grandchildren, neighborhood children and gave to the Children's Home and My Friends Place.

Yvonne was predeceased by her parents, her husband Eddie O'Brien, Sr. who died in 1974, two brothers Alfred and Wilfred Nadeau, two sisters Ida MacDonald and Irene Otis; also half -brothers Lionel and Richard Nadeau and half-sisters Theresa Morrisette and Rita Lavaseur.

Yvonne is survived by three daughters Eleanor DiMambro and husband Bob of Gonic, Kathleen Barrett of Dover, and Patricia Dion and husband Tom of Keene; three sons Edmund O'Brien, Jr., Thomas O'Brien and Paul O'Brien and wife Karen Catsoulis all of Dover. Also eleven grandchildren Bob and Christopher DiMambro, Jen (DiMambro) Lizotte; Cara (Dion) Cunningham; Tom and Mark Dion; Michael Barrett, Kathleen Barrett and Peggy (Barrett) Morton; Courtney (O'Brien) Brooks and Timothy O'Brien. She also leaves fifteen great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

She is also survived by a half-sister Arlene (Nadeau) Dupuis and a half-brother Donald Nadeau and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call Sunday March 9th at Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave. from 2 to 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial Will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Parish of the Assumption, St. Joseph Church, 150 Central Ave; Burial will follow in St. Mary New Cemetery.

Flowers are acceptable or those who wish are invited to make memorials in her name to the Homemakers of Strafford County, 215 Rochester Hill Rd., Rochester, N.H. 03867 or the charity of one's own choice.
