Jean Libby Wilbur

DOVER - Jean Libby Wilbur, 86, died Wednesday March 26, 2014 at her home after a period of failing health.

Born in Symmes Arlington Hospital, Arlington, Mass., January 23, 1928 the daughter of Irvin and Olive (Burney) Libby and grew up in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. She graduated from Portland High School in 1947. She and her husband lived in Ballard Vale, Andover, MA, in Revere, MA for three years, then in Brewer, Maine for ten years. They then moved to York, Maine, where they served for 17 years, moving to Dover in 1991.

Jean was a graduate of Providence Bible Institute, and received her Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from the University of Maine in 1968 and her Master of Education Degree in 1975 from Antioch College. Prior to her retirement 1989 she taught school in Eliot and in York, Maine for 25-years.

She was a member of the American Association of University Women, a life member of the National Educational Association, and a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Society.

She is survived by her husband of 63-years the Rev. Dr. Raymond B. Wilbur, two daughters Pamela Franco and husband Joseph of Meriden, Conn., Kymberly Ryan and husband Jeffrey of South Hamilton, Mass., three grandchildren Daniel Green, Mathew Ryan and Katherine Franco, and a niece and a nephew.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother Donald Reid.

There are no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday April 12, 2014 at the First Parish Church, Congregational, 218 Central Ave., Dover, conducted by the Pastor, the Rev. Mike Bennett.
