KITTERY, Maine - Mark Ventresca, 59, of Halstead Street in Kittery, died suddenly on April 10, 2014, at York Hospital.
Born in Portland, Maine, on Feb. 15, 1955, he was a son of the late Marco and Estelle (Wormwood) Ventresca. He moved with his parents at an early age to Kittery, where he attended local schools until his high school years, when they made their home in Amesbury, Mass., where he graduated high school in 1973.
He met and in 1985 married his loving wife of 29 years, Mary (Luz) Ventresca and together they have made their home and raised their family in Kittery.
A dedicated telephone operator with Verizon for many years he worked out of the Dover office and before his retirement in 2011, had 25 years perfect attendance.
He and his wife enjoyed trips to Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Florida. He enjoyed reading from his large book collection often about the Kennedys and listening to his records of classic rock music, especially the Beatles, the Beach Boys and like bands.
Mark's first love was his family. He will be dearly missed by his wife Mary, their children Frank C. Ventresca of Boston, Mass., Angie M. Ventresca and Nick A. Ventresca both of Kittery, sisters Kathy and her husband Makoto Honda of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Patricia Al-Sarabi of Boston, Mass., his brother Michael Ventresca and his partner Nancy Langsam of Newburyport, Mass., his sister-in-law Helen Robitaille of Port St. Lucie, Fla. and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mark will be private, flowers are welcome and donations may be made in his memory to the NHSPCA. Care for the Ventresca family has been entrusted to the JS Pelkey Funeral Home.
