ELIOT, Maine - H. Donald "Don" Cresswell, 83, of Marshwood Drive in Eliot died on April 10, 2014. He was born on May 20, 1930, in Worcester, Mass., to Gertrude and Howard Cresswell. He joined the Navy in 1947 and served aboard the USS Torsk, SS 423.

Don lived in Maine the rest of his life, settling in Eliot in 1978. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who embraced his whole family with devotion. He was a member of Naval Lodge # 184 in Kittery and a Kora Temple Shriner for 18 years.
He made his career driving for Continental Trailways of New England, earning a Million Mile Safety Award. A member of the Eliot Fish and Game Club, he was an avid bow hunter and formed the first Bass Fishing Clubs in Center Lovell and Eliot, Maine.
He will be dearly missed by some who knew and loved him, including his wife, Hope, of Eliot; children, Donna, Doreen, Sandra, Rex and Tina; his brother, Bill; nieces and nephews, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with Don's family on Saturday in his church, the Eliot Baptist Church, on Route 236 in Eliot, from 11 a.m. to noon with a memorial service beginning at noon. Care for the Cresswell family has been entrusted to the JS Pelkey Funeral Home.
