William E. Gerry, Jr.ELIOT, Maine - William E. Gerry, Jr. 83, of Eliot, Maine, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at York Hospital, from heart disease.

He was born November 27, 1930 in Kittery, Maine, the son of the late Evelyn (Dixon) and William E. Gerry, Sr.
He grew up in Eliot, graduating from Eliot High School in 1948. He served in the Korean War as a mechanic. He worked as an auto mechanic for many years at Welch's Auto Electric, and continued when the business changed owners and became Dover Radiator until his retirement. He enjoyed his summer camp on Bauneg Beg Lake in Sanford, Maine for approximately 40 years.
Bill was married to Betsy (Marston) Gerry from 1955 until her death in 1983. They had 4 children. He was married to Beverley (Pillion) Gerry from 1986 until her death in 2001.
Bill was a jack of all trades and mastered them all. He was known for his kindness, willingness to help anyone and he loved talking and visiting. In his retirement, he enjoyed a nightly drive around Eliot, doing jigsaw and sudoku puzzles. He loved spending time with his family. He did extensive genealogy research on his family. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his daughters: Deborah and her husband Lester Hilton, of Lancaster, Pamela and her husband Arthur Ashley, of Somersworth, Sonja and her husband Donald Allard of Manchester, and his son Bradley Gerry, 18 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 5 nieces and 5 nephews.
William was predeceased by his sister Jean Bowden of South Berwick, Maine.
SERVICES: Visitation will be 11 a.m.- 1 p.m., Friday, April 18 followed by funeral services at 1 p.m. at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home - Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad Street, Portsmouth, N.H.
