Morley Brenton Robinson

PORTLAND, Maine - Morley Brenton Robinson, (Robbie) 99 passed away peacefully on June 8, 2014. He was born in Winchester, Massachusetts, and graduated from Winchester High School. He attended Bentley College graduating in 1939. Shortly after Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. While stationed at Fort Belvoir, Va., he met Mildred Mae Tjarks whom he married in 1943. In 1944, he was deployed to Europe where he served with Special Troops, Sixth Army P.O.W. Repatriation Team and was discharged in January of 1946. After the war, Morley and Mildred made their home first in Bangor, Maine, for 10 years and then South Portland, Maine, for over 50 years. Morley was a District Office Manager for Texaco, Inc. before retiring in 1976 after 41 years with the company. In 2012, they moved to Langdon Place of Dover. Morley was active in the various churches they attended, most recently at Thornton Heights United Methodist Church in South Portland, where he and his wife organized and ran the Senior Citizens Fellowship for years.

After retirement, his hobbies included gardening, golfing, bowling, and traveling through 48 states with his wife in their motor home.

He is survived by a daughter Joan C. Christakis and husband Ernest of Wilson, North Carolina; and a son Dana F. Robinson and his wife Kerri of Berwick, Maine. Morley's grandchildren are Kristin Sexton, Devin Robinson, Trent Robinson, and Ainsley Groen, as well as 6 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife of seventy years, Mildred M. Robinson, his parents John and Claudia Robinson, sisters, Olive Barry and Claudia (Peg) Clipp, and son Brenton L Robinson.

Visiting hours with light refreshments will be held at Johnson Funeral Home, North Berwick, Maine, on Wednesday, June 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be at Brooklawn Memorial Park in Portland, Maine at 2:30 p.m. with Military Honors.
