ROLLINSFORD - Katherine Jane "Etard" Blais 83, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2014, in her home in the company of her loving family.
Etard was born in Dover, N.H., the daughter of George and Ruth (Portier) Emerson. She attended Dover High School and the Laconia School of Nursing, graduating in 1953.
Etard married her sweetheart Henry A. Blais and had six children. She was a military wife for nearly 30 years. She was predeceased by two sons and her loving husband. She had a true passion for nursing and spent many years by the side of the sick and dying. She was the matriarch of her family, spending many family vacations at the lake, always going to her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sports activities. Christmas was her favorite holiday.
She was called by many "the most unselfish person they knew." Etard is survived by her children: Catherine and David Turcotte of Berwick, Maine, Michael Blais of Berwick, Maine, Gregory Blais of Rollinsford, and Doulgas and Ann Blais of North Berwick, Maine; seven grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.
Services will be held on Tuesday July 22, at Wiggin-Purdy Funeral Home at 655 Central Ave., Dover, N.H. from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.; there will be an 11 a.m. service with Father Mike Taylor officiating with burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Dover, N.H. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice, who helped allow her family a wonderful bonding experience.
