Elaine J. Paine

Kittery Point, Maine - Elaine J. (Clark) Paine, 71, passed away after a two year courageous battle with cancer, July 19, 2014. She was the daughter of Lt. Sherman Clark and Anne L. Clark of Kittery Point, Maine.

She passed away peacefully into the wings of an angel at her lifelong home in Kittery Point, holding her husband's hand and surrounded by her children who spent days ensuring her trip was comfortable and peaceful, the way she wanted it.

Elaine was born February 27, 1943, in Portsmouth, N.H. and spent her entire life in Kittery Point, Maine. She graduated from Robert W. Traip Academy, Class of 1961. She then graduated from Lowell General Hospital, School of Nursing in 1964. She worked as an emergency nurse for Portsmouth Hospital before starting a family. She married Nelson in 1965 after dating him since the 11th grade.

Elaine enjoyed spending time with family, friends and her dog Bri. She enjoyed poetry, photography, painting and her most enjoyable time was summer when she could get out to her gardens. Survivors include her husband, Nelson A. Paine; her son, Cameron, and his four daughters - Chelsea, Alexis, Brianna and Cheridan; her daughter, Anne, and her husband Chip Andrews and their two children - Lauren and Conner; her son Brandon and his wife Dawn and their three children Dakota, Dylan and Emily. Best friends and classmates from 1961 were Suzie, Mary-Ellen and Jeannie.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 16, at The First Congregational Church of Kittery Point. Gathering to follow at the parish house. A private burial with be held at a later date. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Cemetery Fund of The First Congregational Church of Kittery Point.
