Richard J. Gravel Sr.

ROCHESTER - Richard J. Gravel Sr., 79, died Monday, August 11, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family, after a period of failing health.

Richard was born in Claremont, on May 11, 1935, the son of Arthur and Alice (Wilson) Gravel and had lived most of his life in Rochester moving from Claremont. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, collected watches and was a longtime friend of Bill W.

Surviving member of the family include: his wife, Madelaine (Tanguay) Gravel of Rochester, one son, Richard J. Gravel Jr. of Rochester, three daughters, Kim Deschenes of Limerick, Maine, Karen Crosby of Rochester, and Kelly Busick of Somersworth, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held at the H. J. Grondin & Son funeral home, 177 North Main Street, Rochester, N.H. on Friday, August 15, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at St. Martin's Church in Somersworth, N.H., followed by burial with military honors in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Somersworth, N.H.
